The Pima County Tucson Women’s Commission, established by the City and County, is currently seeking applicants to fill vacant seats on the Commission.. The 20-member Commission, a diverse, all-volunteer working body, is seeking members from the community. Applicants should submit a bio of 150-200 words explaining how their interests, qualifications and background would fit the Commission’s mission:
Expose, eliminate and prevent discrimination against women in education, employment and compensation, credit, housing, community services and related fields.

Plan for Selection
Applicants will be contacted upon receipt of their applications for a phone interview. Applicants are invited to attend a monthly Commission meeting and tour the Commission’s downtown facility at 240 North Court Avenue in the historic Presidio District. Two requirements of the appointment are attendance at the monthly meetings held at 5:30 p.m. the third Wednesday of every month and participation on at least one committee. Recent Commission activities have included updating and reprinting its Survivor’s Guide to Domestic Abuse, Assault and Violence; sponsorship of the annual Women in Government Day celebrating the behind-the-scene contributions to our community by Pima County and City of Tucson staff; briefings on employment law as currently enforced in our community; a study of the needs of low-income women; briefings on the availability of U-visas, consumer fraud and female trafficking; and hosting an annual Women’s Equality Day celebration. We also convene and sponsor community conversations on the needs of young women and girls.
