Girls Making Media

The Pima County/Tucson Women’s Commission has offered a program, “Girls Making Media.” thanks to funding from Every Voice in Action. Collaborating with Quynn Elizabeth (Founder of WomanKraft Digital Arts Studio), PCTWC’s program facilitated young women to make short media segments about issues affecting women and girls in their community.

Young teens have had the opportunity to produce one video and one audio segment to be aired on radio, television and web media and as public service announcement (psa). They collaborated with other teens for their productions and received a small stipend for completing the program.

Some of the issues of interest were pay equity, immigrant women, migrant women, women in education, women in the workplace, women in housing, women in politics and women’s health and insurance. “Girls Making Media” graduates had an opportunity for sharing segments at a community screening with local political figures and public service agencies.
